You can’t believe a man without legs and arms is living his life very ordinarily

Nick Vujicic was born to Dushka and Boris Vujicic in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia. Although he was an otherwise healthy baby, Nick was born without arms and legs; he had no legs, but two small feet, one of which had two toes.

He also struggled with depression and loneliness as he questioned why he was different from all the other kids. He couldn’t get the haunting question of ‘Why was I the one born without arms and legs?”

Vujicic started his speaking engagements at 19. In 2005, he founded an international non-profit organisation and ministry, Life Without Limbs.

In 2007, Vujicic founded Attitude is Altitude, a secular motivational speaking company. He starred in the short film The Butterfly Circus. At the 2010 Method Fest Independent Film Festival, he was awarded Best Actor in a Short Film for his starring performance as Will.

Nick eventually made the move from Brisbane, Australia to Los Angeles, California, where he is the founder and president of an international nonprofit organization, Life Without Limbs, and owns the motivational speaking company, Attitude Is Altitude. He married the love of his life, Kanae, in 2012, welcoming their first son, Kiyoshi, in February 2013 and their second son Dejan, in September 2015.

Some Additional life hacks to grow a positive attitude

“Always strive to aim for the highest peak of the goals in life you have set, this way if you manage to reach even half way toward a goal, landing in the middle is not such a bad place to end up.”

The words that we use have a lot more power than we think. How you talk about your life is how your life will be. Your mind hears what you say. If you describe your life as boring, busy, mundane, chaotic, that is how you will percieve it and you will feel the effects in your body and mind. If you use the words simple, involved, familiar or lively, you will see your life in a whole different light and find more enjoyment in the way you chose to shape your life.

A study from US data suggests that having a positive attitude is not only has a direct effect on your happiness, it is also correlated with your earning wage.

You probably will not need a lot of convincing to at least give it a try. After all, what do you have to lose? People let their attitude guide them all of the time. Unfortunately, most of the time, the attitude is a negative one. It is often easier to see how a negative attitude influences your life. This is just human nature to see negative over positive. We are more often drawn to drawing out the negative over the positive. Pessimistic attitudes seem to flood the world, while optimism is slowly drowning.

Read books with a positive message, listen to music with uplifting lyrics, and watch movies in which the protagonist’s optimism helps him/her to overcome obstacles and win, despite the odds. Change your attitude for the better by uploading as much positivity into your brain as you possibly can.

A positive attitude leads to happiness and success and can change your whole life. If you look at the bright side of life, your whole life becomes filled with light. This light affects not only you and the way you look at the world, but it also affects your environment and the people around you.

“Separate yourself from those who hinder your vision. Make a choice to walk away from the trap set to ensnare you. Realize when someone is pulling you backwards every time you take a step forward. Separate from them and the result of your action will be a life of success.

Why you should bath everyday?

It’s true. We’re told by parents, friends and media that we have to regularly shave, moisturize, shower and shampoo to stay clean and smelling fresh. But the truth is that showering once a day dries out your skin and removes essential oils.

Dermatologists say, the more you wash, especially in hot water, the more likely you are to dry out and irritate your skin. You could be washing away good bacteria that naturally helps your skin and make small cracks that can lead to skin infections.

First of all, the toddler years are also years when a child’s body is still developing, including the immune system. If it is the germs that worry you, don’t fret. Germs aren’t always a bad thing.

Children are supposed to come into contact with germs. This is the only way their bodies learn how to fight off bacteria, which can cause illness, so a few germs left behind after a day’s play isn’t all that horrible.

I like being clean and I usually enjoy the luxury of a daily shower or two in the summer – I do see it as a luxury. I say usually because there are times when I don’t shower daily especially in the winter. I often strip wash in the morning if I had a bath before bed or I am in a rush in the morning for whatever reason. On my day off, I sometimes don’t bathe at all if I am having a pajama day and have showered or bathed before bed.

I would imagine we waste untold amounts of water on bathing that could be skipped, cut down (time wise) or replaced with a strip wash with no negative effects to anyone’s health. I think it is a subject that we ought to become more open/educated about and certainly less judgemental. I’m sure we could learn a lot from countries or areas where they bathe less and treat water as a precious luxury.

Health benefits:

Reduces muscle tension:

A simple warm bath can help you to reduce the number of trips to a physiotherapist. Bathing reduces tension on overstretched muscles. It helps to heal sore muscles by relaxing them and improves flexibility or elasticity of muscles, especially when you bathe after exercising. Here are some expert tips to get rid of post-workout muscle soreness.

Cure depression:

Specifically for depression, then shower with warm water will ease your suffering. Bath has a positive psychological effect on the mind.

Steam Helps To Reduce Cold Symptoms:

One of the warm bath’s better qualities is as a treatment for symptoms is its function for winter cold-sufferers. We can’t make the common cold vanish, but getting yourself submerged in hot water targets two different elements of cold-management: steam therapy and overall body temperature.

The inhalation of steam is an excellent remedy for cold-induced misery. It clears out the nasal passages while reducing inflammation, and a steamy bath is a great source of the stuff. And it’s recommended that you keep yourself warm when you’re suffering from a virus: a 2011 study showed that elevated body temperature actually helps certain elements of your immune system to function more efficiently, helping you fight off infections and general nasties. A warm bath makes your immune system work better.

Improves blood circulation:

Immersing yourself in a tub filled with water increases blood circulation to the limbs and helps in nourishment of damaged cells at the extremities. With increased blood circulation, the blood pressure reduces and the heart function also improves.

Impacts reproductive health in men:

Take a cold shower daily. A study by Thrombosis Research Institute Cold showed that the levels of male hormone testosterone increased greatly in men who took cold showers.

Health benefits of cinnamon that you need to know

Cinnamon has been valued for its culinary, medicinal, and natural preservative powers since ancient times. First described by Shen Nung, the father of Chinese Medicine, circa 2800 BC, ancient Egyptians used cinnamon as part of the mummification process.

There’s good reason to use cinnamon for far more than just a dash in your morning coffee or tea. Cinnamon is known to enhance your antioxidant defenses, and it’s been found to kill E. coli and many other bacteria.

Its anti-inflammatory compounds help relieve pain and stiffness of muscles and joints due to arthritis.

Cinnamon trees will be covered to ferment before their bark is stripped to make cinnamon. Cassia cinnamon is native to Indonesia, China, and Vietnam.

This tree will reach more than ten feet tall and is harvested for its bark, leaves, and buds, all of which are dried and sold.

Health benefits:

Blood sugar regulation:

In research led by U.S. Department of Agriculture, scientists found that antioxidant-rich cinnamon extract helped reduce risk factors associated with diabetes and heart disease. In the study, 22 obese volunteers with prediabetes were divided randomly into two groups.

One was given a placebo, the other a dose of dried water-soluble cinnamon extract twice a day, along with their usual diets. Fasting blood samples collected at the beginning of the study, and after six and 12 weeks revealed that the cinnamon extract improved antioxidant status, and helped reduce blood sugar levels.

The study authors concluded that consuming up to 6 grams of cinnamon per day “reduces serum glucose, triglyceride, LDL cholesterol, and total cholesterol in people with type 2 diabetes.” and that “the inclusion of cinnamon in the diet of people with type 2 diabetes will reduce risk factors associated with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.”

Cut the Risk of Heart Disease:

Cinnamon has been linked with reduced risk of heart disease, the world’s most common cause of premature death.

In people with type 2 diabetes, 1 gram of cinnamon per day has beneficial effects on blood markers. It reduces levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, while HDL cholesterol remains stable.

Lower your bad cholesterol:

Even if you do not suffer from diabetes, you may want to include cinnamon in your diet for many of the same reasons as those who do.

As Carina Parikh, MScN, MSiMR, the holistic nutritionist for Kate Naumes ND Holistic Wellness in Dallas explains, the positive impact on Type 2 diabetes symptoms is due to a number of factors, notably “improving serum glucose, lowering fasting blood glucose, and reducing triglycerides, LDL cholesterol, and total cholesterol.” These are all benefits that can help even those not suffering from diabetes, including those with hereditary cholesterol worries or problems.

Support Weight Loss:

Cinnamon reduces blood glucose concentration and enhances insulin sensitivity. In obese and healthy-weight individuals, cinnamon is also effective in moderating postprandial glucose response.

Protects Brain Function:

Research also shows that another benefit of cinnamon’s protective antioxidant properties is that they can help defend the brain against developing neurological disorders, such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases.

Health benefits of grapes that you must know

Grapes are widely considered as the “queen of fruits” since earlier times. These tiny berries of the Europe and Mediterranean origin are the storehouse of numerous health-promoting phytonutrients such as polyphenolic antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. This two million tons of these berries are grown each year worldwide, with most of them being used to produce wine – 7.2 trillion gallons of wine per year, to be exact.

Health benefits:

Heart diseases:

Grapes increase the nitric oxide levels in the blood, which prevents blood clots. Therefore, grapes are an effective way to reduce the chances of heart attacks. Additionally, the antioxidants present in grapes prevent the oxidation of LDL cholesterol, which blocks the blood vessels and is a main contributor to various coronary conditions. Grapes also have high numbers of flavonoids, which are what give grapes their color, but flavonoids are also very powerful antioxidants. The two main types in grapes are resveratrol and quercetin, and these two compounds negate the effects of free radicals that threaten the body and stimulate LDL cholesterol’s harmful effects on arteries. Also, these two antioxidant flavonoids act as a clean-up crew to reduce platelet clumping and filter toxins out of the blood.

Makes Skin Supple:

To make our skin supple and smooth, we resort to means like using baby products or spending a bomb on imported cosmetics. But, did you know that grapes are great exfoliating agents that can make your skin baby soft? You don’t ever have to spend on store-bought products again if you include grapes in your skin care regimen.

Mop Up Brain Damaging Plaques:

Studies at the University of Switzerland proved resveratrol’s brain-protecting ability. They found that resveratrol mopped up brain-damaging plaques and free radicals, which have been linked to Alzheimer’s disease. So powerful is this important nutrient that it has even been referred to as “Reverse-it-all” by many health practitioners.

High Blood Pressure:

Grapes are naturally full of potassium, an essential dietary mineral and major electrolyte. Your average seedless green grapes contain right around 175 milligrams of potassium per cup, red grapes nearly 290 milligrams, and black grapes 200 milligrams. It may be that low potassium intake is just as big of a risk factor in developing high blood pressure as a high sodium intake. Plus, potassium can help combat excessive sodium in the body. Grapes are recommended to those with high blood pressure to help negate the effects of sodium in the body.

Improve Brain Power:

In a British study, students given resveratrol increased blood flow to their brains by 200 percent. Scientists believe resveratrol can help speed our mental responses.

Protection Against Sunburns:

Sometimes, the sun is so harsh that we end up getting sunburned even if we have applied sunscreen. And sometimes, we may even forget to slather on some. No worries, nature has a solution for all problems. Grapes, surprising as it might sound, are a great home remedy for sunburns.

Kidney disorders:

Grapes can substantially reduce the acidity of uric acid and they also help to eliminate acid from the system, thereby reducing the stress and pressure on the kidneys. Since grapes have a high water content, they induce urination, which also helps to eliminate the uric acid still present in the body after its acidity is reduced. Grapes have a very cleansing effect on the body, and the antioxidants present benefit all of the body’s systems in peripheral ways.

In the study just 3 grams of powdered amla a day was shown to be even more beneficial and effective than the prescription drug at controlling fasting blood sugar levels.

5. Improves eyesight:

Regular intake of amla juice helps in improving eyesight and nearsightedness and controls the onset of cataracts. It also minimizes intraocular tension and counters problems like reddening, itching, and watering of eyes.

Fast Home Remedies of preventing cold that you must know

Colds are very common. The common cold is transmitted by infected airborne droplets or by direct contact with infected secretions. A visit to your health care provider’s office is often not needed, and colds usually get better in 3 to 4 days. A cold is an upper respiratory infection caused by any one of hundreds of different viruses. Unfortunately, scientists haven’t figured out how to wipe out these viruses. The body has to rely on its own natural defenses.

During a cold, virus particles penetrate the mucous layer of the nose and throat and attach themselves to cells there. The viruses punch holes in the cell membranes, allowing viral genetic material to enter the cells. The common cold is a self-limited disease that can generally be managed at home. The common cold has no cure, and there is no available vaccine.

Common symptoms of a cold include:

Most people with a common cold can be diagnosed by their signs and symptoms. If your doctor suspects you have a bacterial infection or other condition, he or she may order a chest X-ray or other tests to exclude other causes of your symptoms.

  • Fever and chills
  • Headache
  • Sore muscles
  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Nasal symptoms, such as stuffiness, runny nose, yellow or green snot
  • Sneezing
  • Sore throat

How Colds are Spread?

The cold virus can take many routes to its ultimate destination — your cells. Most people are contagious a day before and two to four days after their symptoms start. Here are the typical ways a cold virus is spread:

Touching someone who has the virus (such as shaking hands) or something that contains the virus (such as touching a doorknob or grocery cart). The virus can live for three hours on skin and objects. Once the virus is passed to your skin, it’s a simple matter for it to be transported to your own mucus membranes — for example, when you rub your eye, eat finger foods, or touch your nose. That’s why it’s important to wash your hands thoroughly and frequently, especially before eating.
Inhaling the virus through airborne transmission. It may sound implausible, but if someone sitting next to you sneezes while you are inhaling, voila! It’s likely you’ll get a cold.

Home remedies:

1. Drink plenty of fluids:

Get plenty of fluids. It helps break up your congestion, makes your throat moist, and keeps you from getting dehydrated.

Most people should drink at least eight to 10 8-ounce glasses of fluid every day. Need ideas for something to drink? Try water, sports drinks, herbal teas, fruit drinks, or ginger ale. Your mother’s chicken soup might help, too!

2. Blow Your Nose:

It’s better than sniffling mucus back into your head. But make sure you do it the right way. If you blow hard, you’ll send germ-carrying phlegm back into your ear passages, which can lead to an earache. Press a finger over one nostril while you blow gently to clear the other.

3. Spice Tea:

Spice tea is a highly beneficial Ayurvedic remedy to get rid of common cold. Dry roast and grind a quarter cup of coriander seeds, one a half tablespoons each of cumin and fennel seeds, and a quarter teaspoon of fenugreek seeds. Now, boil a cup of water. Add one and a half tablespoon of this spice powder and one and a half teaspoon of rock candy (misri). Let it simmer for three to four minutes. Add two tablespoons of milk. Bring the solution to a boil and then strain it. Sip it slowly while it is hot. Drink this spice tea daily until the symptoms subside.

4. Red Onion:

Those suffering from a cold can get relief from homemade red onion syrup. To make the syrup, you will need red onions and honey or brown sugar. Slice two to three red onions horizontally. Put one slice of onion in a bowl and add raw honey. Repeat the process until the bowl is full. Cover the bowl and leave it for 12 to 15 hours. When you open the bowl, there will be thick liquid like syrup. Drink a spoonful of the syrup several times a day to get relief from sore throats and other symptoms of a cold.

5. Rest and hydration:

Resting helps your body fight the invading virus. One of the most common symptoms is fatigue, so you’ll need the extra down time anyway. Ingesting water, tea, and soups is a great way to stay hydrated. When you have a cold your body uses a lot of fluid to fight the infection and produce nasal fluids. This means that you’ll need to hydrate more than you would on a normal day.

Special point:

Many painkillers and decongestants are available from pharmacies without a prescription. They’re generally safe for older children and adults to take, but might not be suitable for babies, young children, pregnant women, people with certain underlying health conditions, and those taking certain other medications. Speak to a pharmacist if you’re unsure.
